In October 2017, I became a pescetarian – now WTF is that you may rightfully ask?
I hear you…Well, according to Google it means I no longer eat red meat or chicken. Yikes..and for one that loved a medium-rare rib-eye steak…I wasn’t sure I could do it.
My motivation was primarily ego-driven – to improve my cycling performance… by reducing the acidity in my body.
Now pretty much everyone knows that red meat and sugar are the biggest dietary contributors to an acidic body and that acidity delays healing and recovery and reduces optimal performance in athletes right? Hiehie
… because every naturopathic or homeopathic practitioner I have ever seen through the years has said so…..the most recent being a SCIO therapist who was so accurate on every other verifiable aspect of my health and
well-being that I couldn’t help but listen.
As a competitive cyclist and a no half measures type of person, I have over the past year been ferociously researching and vigorously exploring various aspects of diet and nutrition to ensure that cutting out meat and chicken would not adversely affect my training…or my overall health…
The pearls of wisdom and learnings that have become evident to me and radically influenced my diet over the past 18 months have been mind blowing…..I am changed forever. I now follow a mostly plant-based diet; I do not eat any red meat or chicken whatsoever; although I despise the dairy industry, I sadly admit (with disgust) that I can hardly resist a dairy milk cappuccino and parmesan cheese on creamy pasta sauce :-(.
As part of the DripBar blog posts, I will be sharing my epic journey and dietary evolution through the supermarket isles and the farmers market stalls….
the DripBar was borne on paper in February 2018. We opened our doors in Bryanston, Johannesburg on 25 Feb 2019… I am extremely passionate about sharing the message of the fundamental impact of a healthy microbiome on reducing and reversing all inflammatory diseases especially depression and anxiety through the gut brain axis. As vitamin and mineral Drip Therapy bypasses the gut, it is an important and beneficial intervention in optimising micronutrient levels while leaky gut syndrome and an unhealthy gut/microbiome are being attended to and resolved.
Our ultimate vision is to be out of business in Vitamin Drip Therapy and consumed by the business of optimising the MICROBIOME of all the 7,7 billion people on this planet! The mission has begun…
